Spark is excited to welcome Dr. Meghan Thurlow as a Senior Fellow with our Methane Removal Program. An accomplished scientist and technology leader, Meghan will support strategic field-building initiatives to accelerate the development of the emerging field of methane removal.
With methane concentrations rising—and natural systems like wetlands and permafrost beginning to emit even more—Spark’s Methane Removal Program is working to accelerate the development of the methane removal field by building the scientific community, funding early research, and advancing the policy and governance needed to grow the field quickly and responsibly.
Meghan joins Spark while also continuing to serve as a lecturer in business and public policy at the University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business and as a Commissioner on the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission.
Previously, Meghan served as Chief Technology Officer for an air quality and climate monitoring company, leading technical strategy and managing engineering and science teams. Her technical work included developing partnerships with major utilities to advance natural gas leak detection and methane identification systems to reduce emissions.
Meghan holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Harvard University, an MBA from UC Berkeley, and a B.A. from Carleton College.
