Andrew Bisson is the Senior Program Officer for Spark’s Livestock Enteric Methane Mitigation Program, working to accelerate the development and scaling of innovative, low-emission solutions for the livestock sector. He is dedicated to advancing strategies that reduce methane emissions and strengthen the global enteric methane mitigation community.
Prior to joining Spark Climate Solutions, Andrew served as a livestock sector development advisor with USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service and in the Center for Resilience at the US Agency for International Development (USAID). Working in multidisciplinary teams, he strengthened and supported mixed crop-livestock and pastoral systems, smart climate agriculture, socio-economic development, food security and nutrition in lower- and middle-income countries.
Before his public sector roles, Andrew lived and worked in several emerging economies, leading integrated livestock, market system and food security development programs for international NGOs, Durham University and Tufts University. He also served as an Animal Health Officer for the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, contributing to the eradication of Rinderpest in Sudan and South Sudan and managing Avian Influenza control initiatives in Vietnam and its neighboring countries.
Andrew holds a degree in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from Glasgow University and a Master’s degree in Tropical Veterinary Medicine from the University of Edinburgh.
