Methane and nitrous oxide removal are emerging climate response options, but limited awareness and guidance constrain their consistent treatment in IPCC assessments. This project identifies where and how current non-CO₂ GGR knowledge could be integrated across IPCC AR7 working group reports and develops practical recommendations to support robust, consistent inclusion. Through retrospective analysis of AR6, mapping to AR7 chapter outlines, and structured interviews with experts and authors, the project produces actionable guidance and scholarly insights into opportunities and barriers to integrating novel climate interventions in IPCC processes.

Celina Scott-Buechler is the Accenture Chair Assistant Professor of Public Policy at Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy. An interdisciplinary scholar, Celina’s work bridges the environmental social sciences, law and policy, climate justice, and the natural sciences. The central question driving her work is: How do – and how should – publics (community, national, expert) engage in shaping climate change mitigation’s technological and infrastructural futures? She is particularly interested in how the risks, opportunities, and burdens of these futures are distributed and governed, with a focus on novel climate interventions. Celina holds a PhD in Environment & Resources from Sanford University’s Doerr School of University, a JD from Stanford Law School, and an MS in Atmospheric Science from Cornell University.
